Entertainment on a boat has moved on significantly from the days of a huge Bakelite box or a car stereo head unit. Now you can have multi zone music throughout the vessel all areas being controlled from the area you are in. Your Audio needs can also be controlled by a multi function display (MFD) such as the Raymarine Axiom or even on a tablet or phone. Some entertainment equipment like a fusion unit link onto the NMEA2000 network and its head unit can be set as a secondary screen that will display information including speed and depth which can give you a useful extra screen at the chart table.
Lighting is also able to go beyond 12volt strip lights or spots with modern inverters. It is now possible to run smart lighting giving an even more controlled area to relax. One real benefit of lighting such as Philips Hue is for night sailing when below deck you can have the lights set to red in colour saving your night vision.
With the use of a router on board you can also consider using an Artificial Assistant (AA) like Alexa or Siri and the possibilities are expanding all the time.
